BAHAWALPUR-The divisional administration has directed the officers concerned to speed up pace of work on 393 development schemes being executed at a cost of Rs15.80 billion.

The schemes are aimed at providing state-of-the-art socioeconomic infrastructure and civic amenities to the citizens, said Bahawalpur Commissioner Saqib Zafar.

He issued the directives at a meeting held here to review the Provincial Annual Development Program in three districts of the division. Programme director Saqib Ali Adeel and other officers of the departments concerned attended the meeting.

The participants were briefed that the provincial annual development program’s total outlay stands at Rs15.80 billion. The projects include 223 ongoing schemes which are being executed with Rs12 billion and 810 million and 170 new schemes which will cost Rs two billion and 990 million.

The officials of the executing agencies apprised the meeting of various measures undertaken to execute the projects, different phases of completion and positive impact on lives of the residents after completion.

The commissioner directed officials of the executing agencies to mobilise all available resources to ensure quality of work and completion within the stipulated time. He directed the officials that contractors to adhere to the time line set for the development program. He warned that strict disciplinary action would be initiated against officials and contractors found involved in causing financial loss to the public exchequer.
