LAHORE - PPP’s Coordination Committee tasked to firm up proposals concerning party’s reorganisation in South Punjab completed its spadework yesterday after extensive consultation with the party men spreading over three months.

Former Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani on Monday chaired the concluding session of the two-day meeting held at Model Town residence of ex-Punjab Governor Makhdum Ahmed Mehmood.

The Coordination Committee has finalised three names for each party office at the provincial, divisional and district level in consultation with the party men.

Secretary, Coordination Committee, Abdul Qadir  Shaheen told The Nation that he would be sending the recommendations to the party chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in the next couple of days.

“He (Bilawal) will interview all the prospective candidates to fill the vacant slots and himself issue the nomination letters”, he said.

About the criterion fixed for nomination to various party offices, he said that besides the leadership skills, affiliation of party men with political groups and beradaris (clans) have also been taken into account. Apart from it, he added, the new office bearers have also been judged on the basis their suitability to contest the next general elections.

Meanwhile, talking to the media after the meeting, Yousaf Raza Gilani said that a decision about PPP’s participation in the PTI march or ,otherwise, would be taken by party’s top leadership upon receiving the invitation.

He also said that it was PTI’s Constitutional right to hold rallies and protests.

Replying to a question, he said that all institutions should work within their Constitutional limits.
