LAHORE - A 32-year-old woman was found dead from a house located in Green Town police precincts yesterday. The body was moved to the morgue for autopsy.

Police identified the victim as Anwar Bibi, who married to Jaffar Ali eight months ago. The whereabouts of her husband were unclear till filing of this report.

Locals told the investigators that her husband had left for his native town on Sunday evening and the woman was present alone at the house.

Separately, a 45-year-old man was found dead from the Masti Gate police area. The body was moved to the morgue for autopsy.

Police were yet to ascertain the identity of the deceased. Investigators say they believe the man was a drug addict. Some passerby spotted the body alongside a footpath and alerted the police yesterday morning.

The police shifted the body to the morgue. Further investigations were underway.

Bootlegger arrested

The police arrested a bootlegger and seized at least 72 bottles of liquor from his possession.

A police spokesman said that the raid was part of the police campaign again drug-peddlers. A team of Baghbanpura police carried out the raid and arrested Rashid Masih. The police also seized 50 liters of locally-made liquor from his possession. The police registered a case against the accused and were investigating.  Lahore DIG (Operations) Dr Haider Ashraf announced cash prizes and commendatory certificates for the police team.
