Karachi-Thatta 49km dual carriageway constructed at cost of RS8.8b: Syed Zia Abbas

KARACHI - Sindh Minister for Works and Services Syed Zia Abbas Shah Rizvi on Sunday said that his department was using all available resources to further improve inter-district connectivity. He said that a 49km long two-lane road for connecting Karachi to Thatta had been constructed at a cost of Rs8.8 billion. He said that trees had also been planted alongside the road. The project had also an Emergency Response Centre. The project also includes state of the art Emergency Response Centre, fire brigade station equipped with modern fire tenders and ambulance services.  There are also two 55-ton heavy cranes to maintain the flow of traffic on the road, this he said while talking to media after a tree-planting ceremony. Provincial Minister for Works and Services Syed Zia Abbas Shah further said that about 15,000 saplings had been planted so far under the project, which would continue.
