LAHORE -Pakistan’s top but defunct cricket organisers, officials and players, who became victim of the self-centred policies of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), will gather in Islamabad to hold a peaceful protest and sit-in outside the National Press Club (NPC). The Movement for Restoration for Cricket and Associations (MRCA) has planned a protest today at 3:00 pm in front of the NPC Islamabad with a demand to restore the PCB’s 2014 Constitution. The protest is being staged against the changes brought in Pakistan cricket’s 70-year-old structure, which led the national team win both the World Cups (50 overs as well as the T20) and the Champions Trophy. But the changes, of scrapping departmental cricket that not only made thousands of players and officials jobless but also brought destruction to grassroots and domestic cricket, were unconstitutional. The protest will be led by cricket organisers Shakil Sheikh and former PCB governing body member Nauman Butt.
