Policeman among four die in motorway pile-up
ATTOCK – Four persons lost their lives and nine others sustained injuries in a pile-up, involving four vehicles on Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway (M-1) near Brahma interchange in limits of Hassanabdal Police.
A Sub-Inspector of Rawalpindi Police is among the dead. The National Highway and Motorway Police and hospital sources said that four vehicles including a speeding passenger van (bearing number LET-137) collided with a truck (bearing number PRK-789), then a car (bearing number AAD-748) rammed into it from the rare followed by a Suzuki van in the wee hours of Thursday. Resultantly four persons onboard the vehicles w died on the spot. The dead were identified as SI Khalid Mehmood, Syed Uddin, Mohammad Safdar and Yousaf Khan. The dead and one injured were shifted to THQ hospital while seven others were moved to PIMS Islamabad due to their critical condition.
Man ends life after making a bid to kill wife, daughter
A man committed suicide after attacking and injuring his wife and teenage daughter in Mianwala village in the remit of Pindi Gheb Police here on Thursday.
Police while quoting the injured said that 50-year-old Zulfiqar Ali exchanged hot words with his wife over some family dispute. During quarrel, he became furious and attacked his wife and daughter with a knife, injuring them critically. Seeing them in the pool of blood, he committed suicide by cutting his throat with the same knife and died instantly. The injured were taken to THQ Hospital Pindigheb from where they were shifted to Holy Family hospital Rawalpindi due to their critical condition. Pindi Gheb Police registered a case and initiated further investigation. Meanwhile Hasrat Khan was electrocuted in Village Girdi in the limits of Injra Police while a teenager, resident of Darus Salam colony Attock was tortured to death by some unknown culprits in the limits of Attock City police.
