Minister’s complaint: PIA driver suspended for being late
rawalpindi – A driver of PIA’s VIP Coaster Service has been suspended after a provincial minister of N-League expressed dissatisfaction on poor transport service, sources disclosed to The Nation on Thursday.
PIA Technical Ground Support Manager Buland Akhter has placed the VIP Coaster Service driver Irfan under suspension and held a departmental inquiry against him on the complaint of Punjab Minister for Labour and Manpower Raja Ashfaq Sarwar, sources added. According to sources, Provincial Minister Raja Ashfaq Sarwar arrived at the Benazir Bhutto Airport from Lahore via PIA flight number PK-652 at 3:50pm. They said the minister had to wait for 10 minutes as the VIP Coaster Service reached late to escort him to Rawal Launch from Apron.
On this, the provincial minister expressed his anger and summoned the TGS Manager Buland Akhter and lodged a complaint with him against the lazy PIA staff.
The minister also sought strict action against the responsible driver.
Sources added that TGS manager suspended driver Irfan and ordered a departmental inquiry against him. On this, the Punjab Minister for Labour and Manpower Raja Ashfaq Sarwar showed his satisfaction over the action taken by TGS manager and left the airport for Islamabad, they said.
TGS Manager Buland Akhter and Provincial Minister Raja Ashfaq Sarwar were not available for their comments.
