BRSP launched in eight Balochistan districts

Quetta – Ambassador of the European Union to Pakistan Jean-François Cautain said Saturday that he was highly contented by visualising successful execution of the projects launched by the provincial government and Balochistan Rural Support Programme (BRSP) with financial assistance of European Union in the province.

Addressing the launching ceremony of Balochistan Rural Development & Community Empowerment Programme (2017-2022), Cautain said people of the province will soon benefit from the these projects. For a close monitoring of these projects, he said, the European Union team will be making periodical review of the programme.

State Minister for Postal Services Maulana Ameer Zaman, provincial ministers, ex-CM Dr Abdul Malik Baloch and other public representatives also spoke on the occasion.

In his keynote speech, Ambassador of the European Union to Pakistan Jean-François Cautain expressed satisfaction over smooth implementation of the projects backed by the EU in the province and hoped these projects would help benefit people soon.

He added a team of EU would be making timely evaluation of these projects to make any changes if desired. For a comprehensive monitoring, Balochistan government will give the team access to these projects.

Maulana Ameer Zaman, the State Minister for Postal Services, addressing the ceremony, said that Balochistan was still a victim of backwardness in various sectors and people dwelling in the province were having no access to basic amenities, particularly potable water, education and healthcare services.

The officials, briefing the participants about the programme, said that the project was formally being inaugurated in eight districts of Jhel Magsi, Khuzdar, Washuk, Kech, Zhob, Pishin, Loralai and Qilla Abdullah. They added some 354,324 families and 17,02,150 persons will benefit from these projects in these eight districts.

The programme will provide facilities of education, health, EPI schemes and provision of employment which would help decline poverty and uplift the living standard of the people of far-flung areas in Balochistan.
