Lawyers protest operation against Faizabad protesters

The members of the Lahore Bar Association on Saturday held strike in the lower courts and took out rally at The Mall to condemn operation against the Faisazabad protestors.

The lawyers set the tyres on fire and blocked the traffic before the religious groups could come out to show their strength at the same place.  The Lahore High Court Bar Association, on the other hand, announced to hold general house meeting on Monday (tomorrow) to discuss the prevailing situation started after operation against the protestors of Faisabad’s sin-in.

Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan, religious-political party which recently secured 9000 votes from NA -04 and emerged as third political party in NA-120’s by-election, announced sit-in at Faisabad 19 days ago to demand resignation of federal law minister Zahid Hamid and action against others over changes made in oath of the parliamentarians.

Addressing the participants, the lawyers said that the government should not have launched any operation at the sit-in rather it should have dealt the protestors with  political wisdom. Some of the lawyers chanted “Labbaik Ya Rasoolallah” and said that they would support the protestors. They said that Khatam-i-Nabuwat is the belief of every Muslim. “Why the government made the changes and then it confessed and retreated?,” said one of the protestors.

The lawyers rally was there when workers and members of Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan-Al-Almi headed by Dr. Muhammad Ashraf Asif Jalali reached there and blocked the road.  Advocate Arif Awan—a lawyer who is also well known in “Braveli School of Thought” took part in the gathering of Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan-Al-Almi.
