Two dacoits gunned down in crossfire

SHARAQPUR – Two alleged dacoits, wanted in a number of cases of robberies and other heinous crimes, were killed by their accomplices during any attempt to get them free here near Madianwala the other day.

According to Sharaqpur Police SHO Abdul Latif Gujjar, the police had arrested two dacoits named Muhammad Imran, son of Haq Nawaz and Imran Ahmad, son of Lal Din, both resident of Jaranwala city in different many robbery cases. The officer informed that a police team escorted the suspects to a hideout for arrest of their accomplices and recovery booty in village Essen. The police raided the hideout and recovered Rs0.7 million from there. However, as the police team was returning, six armed accomplices of the suspects, riding three bikes, appeared at the scene and started indiscriminate firing. The attackers managed to get free their accomplices from police custody and fled towards village Mandianwala. Near the village they attempted to loot a car in which some unknown armed men were travelling.

The persons in car started firing on the robbers as a result two dacoits died on the spot while their other accomplices fled the scene. In the meanwhile, the police reached the scene and found both runaway suspects dead. The police took the dead bodies to THQ hospital and recovered two Honda 125 bikes from the scene. The Sharaqpur Police have launched further investigation.
