Hospitals to have online registration system

LAHORE – Specialised Healthcare & Medical Education Secretary Najam Ahmed Shah has said the manual database system of all teaching hospitals will be computerised in phases.

Talking to the media after visiting the newly established online IT registration system for patients at the Emergency Department of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital on Saturday, he said the set-up would help compile authentic and complete data of patients, nature of diseases and availability and provision of medicines. The health secretary said this database would be used for future planning and to prepare a strategy to meet the challenges.  Vice Chancellor of Fatima Jinnah Medical University Prof Khalid Masood Gondal, Registrar Prof Shireen Khawar, Medical Superintendent Dr Fayyaz Butt, Director of Skill Lab Prof Khalid Javed Khan, GM of IT, PMO Fraaz, members of the faculty and other administrative doctors were also present.

The health secretary visited the skill lab. He said that Sir Ganga Ram Hospital was the third institution that had been shifted to the IT system. Previously, the system was working at Children’s Hospital and Mayo Hospital.

He said that online registration would be extended to in-patients departments, OPD and pharmacy. He said that all information regarding patients and hospital facilities would be available on the dashboard. The secretary also visited operation theaters, medicines and surgical wards and inquired after patients. He asked them about the medical facilities, especially provision of free medicines.
