Kashmiris raise Pro-Pakistan slogans at Indian army-sponsored match in IOK
BUDGAM: The closing of the final match of the Indian army-sponsored cricket tournament being played at the Aga Syed Ali Memorial Cricket Stadium, Budgam in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK) was interrupted on Saturday by pro-Pakistan, pro-freedom and pro-Zakir Musa slogans raised in the presence of police officials by youths in the audience.
According to Kashmir Reader, a 17-second video, widely circulated on social media, shows that the players and the crowd raised slogans in support of Pakistan and Zakir Musa after the conclusion of the match.
The cricket tournament under the name of the Kashmir Primer League was organised by Indian 53-Rashtriya Rifles in Budgam town.
Its final match was played between the Budgam and Ompora teams and was won by Ompora.
Sources said that during the award ceremony of the final match, scores of youth raised pro-Zakir and pro-Pakistan slogans.
This is the second incident in a week in which the slogans were chanted in the presence of police and army officials.
Earlier this week in Kunzer Cricket Ground, pro-freedom slogans were also raised, as well as slogans in favour of Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi when former Indian captain, MS Dhoni, was on the field.
