HAFIZABAD –  A woman killed her three children – two sons and a daughter – by throwing them into a canal and later attempted suicide by slitting open her throat and jumping into the canal.  The Rescue 1122 and police confirmed all the three children drowned and search for their bodies is continued for the past 20 hours when this report was filed.

However, the women was fished out by the Rescue-1122 divers alive and shifted to local hospital where she is struggling for life. The police, however, took her into custody and registered a case against her under section 302/419/201 PPC.

According to rescue and police sources, hectic search is being carried out by the rescue divers and villagers.

The police source informed that Zareena Bibi, was married off to a brick kiln worker Abid Hussain in Hardo Bhoon village about six years back. Due to poverty and other issues, the couple often quarrelled as a result of which their relations remained strained since their marriage. The couple again had exchanged harsh words which fed up the Zareena who took her 5-year-old daughter Zara Fatima; four-year-old Muhammad Faizan and two-year-old Ahmad Raza to Jhang Brach Canal near Mona Jhal and threw them in the canal.

Later, she also attempted to cut her jugular vein and attempted to commit suicide by jumping into the canal. She, however, was rescued by the Rescue 1122 divers while search for the bodies of the kids is continued.

The police quoted neighbours of the couple as saying that the victim family often had disputes due to their extreme poor financial condition. Meanwhile, an eight-year-old boy of Garhi Gondal was crushed under the wheels of a tractor-trolley when he fell down from it near his village. The deceased Muhammad Ali along with his father Nazir Ahmad Mallah and other family members were on way to join a rally of Eid Miladun Nabi on a tractor-trolley when he fell down and crushed under its wheels.
