Black Horse, Honda Chenab in Polo final

LAHORE – Black Horse Paints/Artema Medical set Shoe Planet Polo Cup 2017 final clash against Honda Chenab after defeating Newage team. Black Horse Paints, which had two goals handicap advantage, emerged as winners against Newage 7 in a thrilling encounter. Hamza Mawaz Khan was hero of the day by firing fabulous five goals. Ahmed Bilal Riaz (one goal) completed the tally for the victors. From the losing side, Shah Shamyl Alam scored a quartet while Ahmed Zubair Butt scored a brace and Adnan Jalil Azam struck one. Black Horse, having two goals handicap advantage, contributed two more goals to take 4-0 lead. Newage hit one goal. Black Horse maintained their supremacy in the second chukker and slammed in two more goals to have 6-1 lead which was soon reduced to 6-2. Newage bounced back in the third and fourth chukkers and leveled the score at 6-6. The match entered the sudden death chukker, where Hamza hammered winning goal to help Black Horse win the encounter 8-7. Dawood Group defeated Sakuf and Diamond Paints under American system to qualify for the subsidiary final. Dawood Group first outpaced Diamond Paints 5-1 and then edged past Sakuf 4-3 to emerge as winners.–Staff Reporter

All Pakistan Gold Cup Volleyball

KAMALIA: Victories by Police and Navy have completed the semifinals line up of the ongoing All Pakistan Gold Cup Volleyball Tournament at Municipal Sports Complex here on Saturday. Pakistan Junior U-20 and Wapda have already reached into the semifinals. Pakistan Junios will lock horns with Navy in the fist semifinal while Police will face Wapda in the second semifinal. Earlier, Police had to fight hard to subdue Army Juniors in the third quarterfinal. After winning the first game 25-21 the Police faced tough resistance from the Army Juniors who won the second game 26-24. However, Police won the next two games 25-20 and 25-10 to win the match 3-1. Navy beat Punjab in the last quarterfinal 3-0. Punjab players performed well in the first two games but lost the match 25-21, 25-20 and 25-18.–PR
