Suspected thief set on fire

LAHORE – An alleged cell phone thief was set on fire by two brothers in Nawab Town on Saturday.

The suspect has been identified as 20-year-old Muhammad Arshad who received burn injuries on his arms and hands.

According to the police, Jahangir and his brother Manaan accused Arshad of stealing a cell phone and then a fight broke out between them. However, residents of the area intervened and pacified the two sides. Later, Jahangir and Manaan threw kerosene oil on Arshad and set him on fire, police said. The victim was shifted to Jinnah Hospital for treatment where doctors declared his condition out of danger.  Police arrested both accused Jahangir and Manaan on Saturday. DIG (Operations) Dr Haider Ashraf has praised Nawab Town SHO Raheel Amjad and his team for arresting the accused.


Shahdara police arrested a drug peddler on the basis of information they received through Local Eye application.  Taking action on the information provided by a local government official, Shahdara police conducted a raid and arrested alleged drug peddler Iqbal Fauji. Police also seized 2.5kg hash from him and registered a case against him, says a press release.
