Rs162m to be spent on uplift in 46 UCs

HAFIZABAD-A sum of Rs162 million would be spent for the laying of sewage pipes, rehabilitation of streets, installation of streetlights and other civic services in 46 union councils of the district.
Deputy Commissioner Saleha Saeed stated while addressing a meeting here the other day.
She said that all the funds would be allocated and spent under the chief minister’s “Clean Village Programme” and Punjab Local Development Package during the current year.
According to the programme, every union council would recruit six sanitary workers, she said and adding that dumping points would also be erected to dump the garbage. Efforts would also be made to provide potable water to the masses, she added.
The DC also visited Allauddinke, Kaleki Mandi, Uddoki and Bhirri Chatha union councils. District Council vice chairman Rai Qamaruz Zaman Kharl, Hafizabad AC Imtiaz Shahid Gondal and Deputy Director Local Governments Arif Tufail accompanied her. During her visit, the DC highlighted various features of the ‘Clean Village Programme’ and Punjab Local Development Package for the provision of all civic amenities to the masses. She called upon villagers to cooperate with the union councils chairmen to make their atmosphere clean.
