Youth gunned down in road rage incident
KARACHI – A teenager student lost his life while another critically wounded on Sunday when gunmen on double cabin pickup opened indiscriminate fire at a car following a road rage at Defence Housing Authority (DHA) within the limits of Darakhsan police station.
Police said that the incident took place when the victims on a car were trying to flee after hitting a biker at Do Darya, Clifton. Following the incident armed men in a double cabin pickup running after the car and opened multiple fires at the car when the car driver tried to speed up a car instead of stopping it.
Police officials said that the men in the double cabin even beaten the car passengers up after firing at least nine times.
The armed men who were around four to five were later managed to escape from the scene after committing the crime.
The students sustained bullets wounds were immediately shifted to the nearby private hospital where doctors pronounced an eighteen year old Zafir dead while Zaid, 20, was remained admitted to hospital for treatment.
According to doctors, Zaid sustained a bullet injury on his hand and his condition was out of danger. Deceased, resident of the DHA, was said to be a student of first year. His father was also said to be a banker.
Reacting on the information, the police took the action and obtained the CCTV footages from the crime scene. The police finally manage to trace the pickup van with the help of a CCTV footage and arrested at least four suspects including a key suspect, Khawar Burney during a raid conducted on Khalid Bin Waleed Road while also impounded a vehicle.
The higher authorities including Sindh Chief Minister, Home Minister and IGP Sindh also took a notice of the incident and asked the police officials concerned to arrest the culprits.
Sindh Home Minister Sohail Anwar Siyal while taking a notice of the incident ordered Additional IG Karachi Mushtaq Mahar to submit an inquiry to him while also ordering the immediate arrest of the culprits involved in the incident. Incidents of firing are rampant in a city, particularly in DHA.
On the other side, Kemari police found a tortured marked dead body form a nullah located in Gulshan-e-Sikander. Police said that the residents of the area informed police about the body lying in nullah while police rushed on the spot and shifted the body to Civil Hospital Karachi. Doctors conducted postpartum of the body while opined that the victim was tortured to death some three days ago and later his body was thrown at the said nullah. Police registered the case while shifted the body morgue for identification.
Meanwhile, police claimed to have arrested over a dozen suspects in various raids and operations carried out in different parts of the city while recovered weapons and narcotics from their possession. Police said that as many as 13 accused persons arrested in some 11 raids and two operations. The accused persons were including street criminals, extortionists, bandits and narcotics dealers. Police claimed to have recovered weapons and narcotics from the possession of arrested accused persons while further investigation is under way.
