MITEFP Startup School concludes with final presentations
MIT Enterprise Forum (MITEF) Pakistan along with Information Technology University concluded a five week long Startup School program today at Lincoln Corners Lahore.
The Startup School gave an opportunity to passion driven budding entrepreneurs with a platform to refine their entrepreneurial skills and build their business ideas through classes and one on one mentorship sessions with industry experts. Trainers from organizations such as Shell, Careem, Telenor and Finja lent their support to students through their industry experience and feedback.
Startup School Fall 2017 comprised of an engaging training program that allowed the participants to pitch their ideas on the final day after being trained in areas such as product development, startup financials, design thinking, market research and MVP development. The presentations were adjudged by Mughees Tahir, Program Manager PlanX; Usama Tauqeer, CEO AClan; and Dr. Izza Aftab, Assistant Professor ITU.
Team Alpha Steamers were awarded the first position while Rang Ralli were runners up. The winning team members have the opportunity for virtual incubation at MIT Enterprise Forum Pakistan for the duration of six months, thereby allowing their business to grow.
At the concluding ceremony, Areej Mehdi, Program Manager MITEFP congratulated the winning team and shared her wish that startups would go on to pursue their passions upon graduation.
Over 125 applications were received for the program out of which 50 were shortlisted on the basis of the potential of their business idea. Out of those 50, 18 participants attended the program. The final 18 participants were divided in six groups comprising of three members each.
The MIT Enterprise Forum Pakistan is an international chapter of the MIT Enterprise Forum, a global organization affiliated with MIT through MIT Technology Review. By organizing activities that will stimulate entrepreneurship in youth, startups and corporations at the same time, MITEF Pakistan is reshaping the entrepreneurial landscape of Pakistan.
