Punjab govt issues Model Town inquiry report

Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah today totally dismissed the Model Town inquiry report and labelled it as ‘defective’.

“This report is defective because it is based on the secondary evidence and according to law, it is not admissible as the Evidence Act” he stated.

While talking to the press Rana Sanaullah blamed Pakistan Awami Tehreek leader Dr Tahir-ul Qadri for creating fuss over Model Town inquiry report.

“According to the report no government official is responsible for the incident. There is not a single word in the report that held Shehbaz Sharif responsible for the incident” he further stated.

In the press conference, the law minister said that in this report it is mentioned that PAT workers started the resistance which later became the reason for police action and thus chaos was created by PAT workers.

The report was not made public earlier because a court trial was underway and we want to protect all parties involved in the case, he added.

On a query, he said Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif ordered to make the report public immediately after Lahore High Court announced its decision on the case.

“Tahir-Ul-Qadri exactly knows what has happened in the Model Town. He is just making this allegation to create trouble for the government,” Rana said.

This issue is politically motivated and making false allegations didn’t match with Tahir-ul-Qadri’s religious scholar stature, he stated.

The report is uploaded on official website of director general of public relations Punjab(DGPR).
