Record power generated in last 4 years: Marriyum
ISLAMABAD – Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb on Monday said that the pledge of Nawaz Sharif to end load-shedding has been fulfilled.
Talking to newsmen outside premises of accountability court, she said with the announcement of zero load-shedding on Monday, darkness is now over.
She said when the present government was establishing power plants, a person was hurling abuses at institutions and attacking the parliament. She said Nawaz Sharif is appearing before the accountability court for supremacy of the Constitution.
Later, she visited the media camp against the suspension of TV channels during Faizabad operation against religious protestors, she explained, it was a painful step of suspension the transmission of media channels.
She said the government took that step over ignoring the PEMRA rules by some TV channels as they were covering police operation live which is violation of Section 5 of the PEMRA Ordinance. She said TV channels were airing the police activities. She said the incumbent government strongly believes in the freedom of media in Pakistan.
She said the government will address reservations of media and also review the PEMRA laws.
