Parents need to be told benefits of immunization

Kandhkot – Due to unawareness of parents about immunization, diseases such as polio, measles, whooping cough, tetanus and others are on the rise in far-flung areas of Pakistan. While people mostly in rural areas of the country are in dark about the benefits of immunization, the government, too, is not greatly interested in organising seminars and other programmes to enlighten the public about its benefits. According to several medical reports, children, who remain unvaccinated, contribute to the rapid spread of infections.

When this scribe talked to pediatricians of the city, they told that vaccines were the most effective way to protect children against deadly diseases such as polio, measles, whooping cough, malaria and others.

Hence there is a dire need to vaccinate children on time if we are to protect our children from such crippling diseases. The pediatricians told that medical experience had proved that children must be vaccinated before attending the school.
