Victim families seek report’s certified copy

LAHORE – Noted counsel Azhar Siddique has sought a certified/attested copy of the Model Town judicial inquiry report from the Punjab home secretary for information of the aggrieved families.

“In view of the LHC order on December 5, it is requested to please provide a certified/attested copy of the Inquiry Report of Tribunal as the full bench of Lahore High Court directed to the concerned official in his first paragraph of the order to supply the said report forthwith.”

The request for attested copy of report is merely on grounds of transparency, merit and level playing field, so that no one may forge the original content material of the inquiry report.

“It is also requested that the aggrieved families with Secretary General Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Khuram Nawaz Gandapur will visit Home Secretary’s office on Wednesday (today) at 12:00 PM, so an attested/certified copy dully signed by the Punjab home secretary may kindly be supplied, immediately, in the interest of justice, equity and fair play.”

PAT Chairman Dr Tahirul Qadri had accused the government of tempering with the Model Town inquiry report, the government published on 5th December. In wake of these allegations, the noted lawyer demanded of the government to furnish a certified copy. The report made public was not duly signed by the Punjab home secretary.
