Corrupt officials remanded in ACE custody

GUJRANWALA/SIALKOT-The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) obtained a weeklong remand from a local magisterial court against three officials allegedly involved in huge funds embezzlement here on Wednesday.
ACE Sialkot Deputy Director Waseem Akhtar told media that Wasa Lahore Xen Rana Ghulam Mustafa and Gujranwala Buildings (Division No. 2) Xen Abdul Ghafoor Malik and Javed Iqbal, sub engineer at the office of Irrigation Gujrat Xen, were nominated in a case for allegedly embezzling Rs2.85 million. The ACE Sialkot had registered a case (No. 13/2015) on February 06, 2015 under sections 5/2/47, 420, 468 and 471 PPC against them.
Mr Waseem said that the ACE produced the accused officials before a local magisterial court on Wednesday amidst tight security. He added that the court granted a week-long physical remand of the accused to ACE for recovery of the embezzled money.
On the other hand, the magisterial court also remanded ASI Amjad Mehmood (Rangpura-Sialkot police station) into ACE custody for three days in a bribery case. The ACE had caught the accused for taking Rs75,000 as bribe from Sarfraz Ahmed of Ooncha Pahraang village, Pasrur tehsil.
