Pakistan stresses for realising objectives of SAARC charter

Though India and some other small countries have opposed the holding of SAARC summit in Islamabad, Pakistan has reiterated its commitment to the objectives of the organisation.

The commitment was expressed by Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua while speaking at a reception hosted by Foreign Office to mark SAARC charter day in Islamabad on Friday. She said serious efforts are needed to realise the objectives of SAARC charter.

The foreign secretary said SAARC region is bestowed with immense natural resources and manpower that can be exploited for good of the people through collaborative efforts.    

She said Pakistan is one of the founding members of the SAARC and committed to its goals. The reception was also attended by ambassadors of different countries.
