Rallies against Trump’s decision

Islamabad – Rallies were taken out in Islamabad on Friday by political and religious parties to condemn US President Donald Trump’s recent move to recognise occupied Jerusalem as capital of Israel.

People, irrespective of their political affiliation, assembled at different points of the capital to raise their voice against the US decision which has also earned world-wide condemnation. Workers of Jamaat-e-Islami and traders led by Ajmal Baloch gathered at the Aabpara Chowk after Friday prayer to protest the decision of the United States. JI rally was led by party Islamabad chapter Amir Zubair Farooq Khan.

Addressing the rally, Zubair Farooq said that the US move has caused concern among the Muslim Ummah which, he said, also exposed Donald Trump as an anti-Muslim leader. He urged the Muslim leaders to immediately convene session of the OIC and adopt a joint line of action on the issue. He condemned the US move and added it has pushed the whole world to the brink of war. He was of the view that the US move has provided an opportunity to the Muslim Ummah to come to a single platform and help Palestinian nation. The other leaders of JI and traders leaders also addressed the rally. 

The activists of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf assembled at National Press Club to express anti-US sentiment. The activists of both political parties were united in their voice against the US. They chanted slogans against the US President and condemned what they viewed his anti-Muslim steps. Aisha Gulalai, who earned fame in controversy involving PTI chairman, Imran Khan also appeared briefly outside the National Press Club to condemn the US move. Majlis Wahdat Muslameen members marched from Imambargah in F-6 up to D-chowk to express solidarity with Palestinians. A protest was also staged at Masjid Quba in sector I-8 to condemn the US decision.     

Holding placards, the participants of the rallies raised slogans to condemn President Donald Trump’s recent decision to move his country’s embassy in Israel to Jerusalem. They shouted slogans in the support of Palestinians. They urged the US to review its decision that has hurt sentiments of Muslims across the globe. They said Washington’s action would undermine all efforts aimed at seeking peaceful resolution of the Arab-Israeli conflict. Besides, the payer leaders, in their Juma sermons, also denounced the decision of the US and expressed solidarity with Palestinian people. The participants of the rally shouted slogans against the US president. After the rallies, the protesters dispersed peacefully.
