Action plan chalked out

LAHORE: Action plan has been chalked out for completing finishing work on Lahore Orange Line Metro Train in minimum possible time besides initiating the process for constituting three special committees for the project as per directions by the Supreme Court of Pakistan.

This was informed at a meeting held on Saturday to review progress on the project with Advisor to the Chief Minister Punjab Kh Ahmad Hasan in the chair. Kh Ahmad Hasan said  that formal request has been made to the Chief Justice of Pakistan for nominating a retired judge of the superior judiciary as member of the ‘Supervisory and Monitoring Committee’ for the project. He reiterated that the directions by the apex court will be implemented in letter and spirit while executing this mega project, which had already suffered inordinate delay due to litigation.  He informed that a high-level delegation of Chinese contractor CR-NORINCO will arrive in Lahore on 15 December for negotiating ‘Operation and Maintenance Contract’. He observed that hurdles in the completion of this project have been removed as a result of the landmark judgment. –Staff Reporter
