NGO holds winter bazaar to raise funds for girls’ education

Islamabad – Mashal Association held its annual ‘fun-filled’ winter bazaar on Sunday in a bid to raise funds for education of under-privileged school girls of the capital’s adjoining areas.  Citizens flocked to the bazaar to spend a colourful Sunday while shopping variety of handicrafts and other household items and eating different delicacies from the stalls set up in support of the cause of education. A free Chinese language learning offer was also there to avail, a statement said.

The bazaar was held at a private garden in Sector F-8. The proceeds accrued from the activity would go for education of girls in Margalla Town, the statement added.

Students participated in different games and activities and won prizes. Kids got their face painted from a stall to run to others to pick their favourite toys. A raffle draw was also held for the visitors.

“We have been exploiting this forum for the cause of girls’ education in Islamabad’s down-trodden areas,” Talat Azeem, project director of Mashal School, said.

Mashal School, located in Gosha-e-Mashal of Margalla Town, has been offering free education up to 8th grade to 159 girls from under-privileged socio-economic background. Gosha-e-Mashal also offers basic medical treatment to the needy denizens of the adjoining areas, the statement concluded.
