Mayor for removing encroachments

KARACHI – Mayor Wasim Akhtar on Monday said that all sort of encroachment would be removed from the city to facilitate the Karachiites.

This he stated while addressing a meeting regarding removal of encroachment at his office. The meeting was attended by Chairmen District East, District Central, representatives of four district of city, chairmen of various KMC committees, Metropolitan Commissioner and officials of KMC.

On the occasion, the mayor said that all sort of encroachments would be removed from parks, roadsides, playgrounds, and others places. A task force has formed under the supervision of director anti-encroachment while director land director parks and director Kutchi Abadi also part of the force for fruitful results, Wasim added.

Mayor also asked the meeting that all details to submit about encroachment in city, adding that the department also looking the details of illegal occupation on amnesty plots for indiscriminate action against the illegal practice. During the meeting Mayor Karachi expressed concern over issuance of lease for KMC land by irrelevant authorities and said that it is a pure illegal practice and KMC will take legal action against such authorities, involved in providing fake leases of KMC land. He direct to concern department of KMC to make joint strategy for action against encroachment for complete removal of illegal occupation on amnesty plots as per the Supreme Court orders. Negligence will not be tolerated at any cost in the drive and incase of negligence stern action would be taken against the officials. Mayor further directed the concern department to take help of law enforcement agencies to control any sort of backlash by land grabbers and encroachers. On occasion, director encroachment Bashir Siddiqui informed the meeting that a concrete strategy has been made to remove the illegal occupation from amnesty plots while the department taking arrangement of machinery and other equipment for the drive of anti-encroachment but it will be completed soon.
