PSB gets NSFs support to hold Inter-Provincial Games from 25th
lahore-A meeting of the secretaries of the respective National Sports Federations was held in the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) committee room under the chair of PSB Director General Akhtar Ganjera Monday.
The meeting was convened to discuss the organizational arrangements of Quaid-e-Azam Inter-Provincial Games at Pakistan Sports Complex from December 25 to 29. Pakistan Wushu Federation president Malik Iftikhar Ahmed Awan, Pakistan Hockey Federation secretary Shahbaz Senior, Pakistan Kabaddi Federation secretary M Sarwar, Pakistan Weightlifting Federation secretary Amjad Amin Butt, Pakistan Volleyball Federation secretary Engr Shah Naeem Zafar, Pakistan Boxing Federation secretary Lt Col Nasir Ijaz Tung, Athletics Federation of Pakistan secretary M Zafar, snooker representative Naveed Kapadia and representatives of badminton, karate, squash, taekwondo, tennis, table tennis, baseball, judo, wrestling federation, all deputy director generals and director media M Azam Dar attended the meeting.
Ganjera welcomed the participants and lauded the dedicated efforts of the National Sports Federations for the successful conduct of Quaid-e-Azam Inter-Provincial Games held from April 4-7, 2016. He highlighted the objectives of the games and briefed the house that the PSB would conduct the event in a befitting way.
Responding to chair, all the concerned national sports federations assured him of their all-out support. They were of the view that these games would be a source of hinting national talent and the top performers must be groomed well and given international exposure so that they might become national asset.
The house included the weight category of +105kg in weightlifting discipline, increased strength of karate (female) from 10 to 12 and approved snooker – 6 Red event (duration 2 days), singles event (duration 2 days) and team event (duration 1 day).
The strength of technical officials was also finalised according to the requirements. The respective federation should nominate a focal person out of above technical officials and his name should be intimated to the PSB immediately. The focal persons should report the PSB on December 22 and technical officials on 24th.
The federations were advised to nominate qualified technical officials and submit their particulars and measurements for track suits and joggers. All the participants were requested to provide the particulars of the participants on the prescribed proforma by December 19 while the NSFs were intimated that all disciplines would be held within the Pakistan Sports Complex.
The house also approved entitlement of the technical officials including free accommodation, return travelling allowance i.e. Sindh, GB and Balochistan (Rs 9000 each), Punjab, Fata, KP and AJK (Rs 25,00 each), Rawalpindi and Islamabad (Rs 1000 each), DA (Rs 1000 per head per day for 7 days), refreshment during competitions.
The house said the payment of the technical officials will be handed to the concerned NSFs, who will submit adjustment to meet the audit requirements. The NSFs were advised to submit requirement of sports equipment to be used during the Games. They were requested to submit the list by December 19. The PSB has already floated tender in the press for the purchase of required equipment.
The participants of the meeting were informed that a tabulation committee has already been constituted and the office of the committee will be established at Jinnah Stadium. All the organizing secretary/focal persons of the federations would provide the results to the liaison officer of the PSB on top priority basis for to the tabulation committee for record and announcement.
