Six robbers take away Rs90 million from bank

MULTAN – Unidentified armed outlaws robbed a public sector bank in Shujabad Tehsil of Multan and made away with cash and gold worth millions on Monday. The initial estimates made by the bank authorities revealed that the robbers looted cash and gold worth about Rs90 million.

Police suspected that the robbers had links with some banned terrorist outfit. Sources said that six armed persons entered the bank at 1:00pm and held the staff hostage at gunpoint. The bank staff told the police that the robbers came with open faces and took away CCTV footage with them before fleeing. Eye-witnesses disclosed that they fled on a car and a motorbike. Police claimed that the security arrangements at the bank were highly unsatisfactory and just one guard was deployed outside the bank. Meanwhile, the security agencies including police have launched investigation into the robbery and hunt is on for the robbers.
