‘Target killers’ among 25 suspects arrested

KARACHI – The law enforcement agencies claimed to have arrested at least 25 suspects in various raids and operation carried out in different parts of the metropolis here on Monday.

Rangers claimed to have arrested some 15 accused persons including target killers associated with Muttahida Qaumi Movement London and Lyari gangsters while recovered weapons from their possession.

Sindh Rangers spokesperson said that that the accused persons arrested were including the workers of MQM London, Muhajir Qaumi Movement Haqqiqi and gangsters affiliated with Lyari gang war. Rangers carried out two separate raids and arrested two alleged political activists Shahid Khan associated with MQM London while Arrested Muhammad Nazim associated with MQM Haqqiqi. Both the accused persons arrested in raids conducted in Tipu Sultan and Shah Latif Town localities.

Rangers said that both the accused persons were involved in various sort of criminal activities including target killing, extortion and other sort of criminal activities. 

Rangers also arrested two street criminals, in raids carried out in Lyari, Madina Colony and Shah Latif Town areas while arrested eight street criminals including Talha, Daraj, Asghar Ali Shah, Muhammad Rizwan, Fazalur Rahman, and three drug peddlers, Aqeel Ahmed, Muhammad Zubair and Salman.   The Rangers claimed to have recovered weapons and narcotics from the possession of the arrested accused persons.

Rangers conducted a targeted raid in Lyari’s Chakiwara and Kalri areas and detained two gangsters associated with Baba Ladla gang including Qasir and Sheroz. They were allegedly involved in hand grenade attacks on police, drug peddling, and several other criminal activities.  Separately, a Rangers’ team carried out a raid in Chakiwara and Kalakot areas and arrested three alleged robbers, Saeed, Zaman and Imtiaz.

The accused were stated to be involved in several robberies and other criminal activities. The accused persons arrested would be handed over to the police after completing legal formalities.

On the other side, Karachi polic claimed to have arrested some 10 accused persons in various raids and operations while recovered weapons and narcotics from their possession. Police said that the accused persons arrested were involved in robberies, street crimes, extortion, drug paddling and other criminal activities. Police claimed to have recovered weapons and narcotics from their possession. 

Meanwhile, Airport Security Force (ASF) arrested two gold smugglers and recovered three kg gold from their possession at Jinnah International Airport Karachi in the wee hours of Monday. The ASF officials searched two passengers, Jameel Akhtar and Jameel Qureshi, , who landed at the airport from Dubai on a private airline’s flight, EK- 602, and recovered three kg gold worth Rs 11,500,000 from their possession.  The ASF has registered a case against the accused and started further investigation.
