Bilawal takes notice of mishandling growers’ protest

KARACHI – Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has taken serious notice of mishandling of growers protest outside Bilawal House in Karachi on Monday and stressed that use of violence should be averted while dealing with political protests.

In a statement, the PPP chairman pointed out that it was a deliberate negligence of the PML-N government not to tackle the issue of piling up surplus sugar stock in country go-downs, which has eventually generated uncertainty and unrest among the sugarcane growers.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari emphasized that Sindh government should continue taking the growers community along with their mainstream representative organisations into confidence over the issues cropping up due to inaction on the part of federal government.

The PPP chairman expressed concern that agriculture economy was booming when PPP was in power in Islamabad but the progress has been dragged into minus by the PML-N government since it took over.

He also asked Sindh government to stay alert from political opponents impersonating as growers to exploit situation for their political mileage.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari asked Sindh Home Minister to prepare a comprehensive report about the incident occurred at Boat Basin area on Monday.
