And now, the celebrities are also playing an important role by helping this cause through their videos on social media in which they show how to actually clap for transgenders and provide them an acceptable and reputable life.
The campaign was initiated through the following video:
This 1:29 minute video shows how the things we do in fun can hurt someone’s dignity and emotions. It features Kami Sid, who in the end, creates an everlasting impression of how the mockery of cat-calling at transgender people needs to stop.
Osman Khalid Butt:
I grew up in a society where the very term ‘hijra’ was (and still is) used mockingly to question masculinity; where the transgender community was seen as freaks of nature: to be indulged for a quick, nasty laugh; paraded, perhaps at weddings for entertainment.. but never respected.. never seen as human. No. This cannot continue. It’s time we change ridicule into applause. It’s time we show the transgender community they are not children of a lesser God. Change your mindset. #ChangeTheClap #SupportTransgenderRights https://www.facebook.com/WeAreAPTN/videos/1993826854169286/
