Two soldiers martyred in NWA
PESHAWAR – Two soldiers, including a second lieutenant, embraced martyrdom as terrorists targeted a military vehicle in North Waziristan Agency on Tuesday.
According to an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement issued here, the terrorists attacked an army vehicle from surrounding mountains in North Waziristan Agency as a result of which Second Lieutenant Abdul Moeed and Sepoy Basharat were killed.
21-year-old Abdul Moeed who had recently passed out from Pakistan Military Academy was a resident of Burewala, Vehari while Sepoy Basharat, 21, having three years military service, hailed from Danyor village of Gilgit.
Earlier, six army men were martyred this month when an improvised explosive device targeted a military vehicle in North Waziristan.
Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa lauded the sacrifices of the martyrs to safeguard the country, according to a tweet of ISPR DG Maj-Gen Asif Ghafoor. “Freedom isn’t free; it costs sons of the soil. Freedom that we enjoy today is owed to so many such brave hearts. Salute to our martyrs,” the COAS said in a message after two soldiers were martyred in North Waziristan Agency on Tuesday.
Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi also strongly condemned the terrorist attack on a vehicle of Pakistan Army in North Waziristan Agency. He extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayed to Almighty Allah to bless the departed souls with eternal peace.
According to an official statement issued in Islamabad, the PM stated that these matchless sacrifices of precious human lives in the war against terrorism will always be remembered as they form the most important aspect of the national history. “They have sacrificed their most valuable asset for the sake of our homeland. There is nothing material to match their sacrifices. As a nation, we will never forget the greatest contributions of our valiant armed forces in the war against the enemies of our country,” said the PM.
The National Assembly also offered fateha for Second Lieutenant Abdul Moeed and Sepoy Basharat martyred in North Waziristan Agency. Sahibzada Tariq Ullah led the fateha.
