Call for tolerance

Lahore – A seminar titled “Inspiring the Future” was held at the Punjab University. Senior journalist Dilawar Ch presided over the sitting. Dilawar stressed the need for concerted efforts for promoting tolerance among youth. “Youth have reportedly been involved in extremism,” he said, adding that this resulted in terrorism that has been plaguing Pakistan. “There is dire need to educate our youth about tolerance.” Noted people Dr Zahid, Dr Amir Mehmood and Dr Nadeem also spoke. A good number of youth participated in the event that was organised by an NGO,‘Change. Under the this initiatives, more than 300 teachers delivered special lectures to promote tolerance among youth so that extremsim could be purged out of Pakistan. PU VC Dr Zafar Moeen Nasir appreciated the project and directed Dr Sajid Rashid of Earth and Science College to look after it.

Students suggested creating awareness and giving food for thought to student bodies.  For the purpose, they also designed various activities including seminars, poster competitions, peace walks, poetry contest, photography competitions, signature campaigns, radio messages, theatre plays, peace lectures, puzzle games etc. In this connection a Seminar titled “Bazm-e-Adab” was organized by the students in Punjab University College of Pharmacy (PUCP).  They also presented their documentary, highlighting the issue.–Staff Reporter
