Factories producing substandard edibles sealed

rawalpindi – The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Wednesday sealed two factories producing and packing adulterated spices and butter. The PFA with help of local police have also arrested the owners of the two factories and registered cases against them. PFA imposed heavy fine on owners and discarded the substandard food items.

According to details, the PFA teams carried out raid on a spice factory located in limits of Police Station Rawat and confiscated 1100 kg red chilies, 900 kg spices and other items.  Similarly, the PFA team raided a butter making factory in Chakwal and seized 1900 kg poor quality butter, 400 kg Ghee and substandard food colours. All the confiscated items have been discarded by the officials of PFA.

PFA teams also conducted inspections of various hotels, bakeries including Rahat Bakers in different parts of division and imposed fine on the owners for using substandard edibles and keeping the kitchens unclean.

DG PFA Noor Ul Amin Mengal told media that the authority would continue taking action against those involved in playing havoc with human life by selling contaminated food items in the market.
