Turbat tragedy: Agencies should admit they can’t do anything, says SC
Supreme Court (SC) recieved a detailed report on human trafficking crime from director general in Federal investigation Agency (FIA) and provincial government, in Turbat killing case today.
A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Saqib Nisar head the case.
Chief Justice Saqib Nisar expressed disappointment by saying, preventing a crime before execution is the actual skill. .
FIA DG to the top court that investigation is being affected due to limited resources and unavailability of complete tolls. Upon this CJ responded by saying, “if there are no resources, then admit that you cannot do anything.”
He further raised questions asking are incidents like these a matter of pride for the institutions, agencies and the nation? “Why the agencies of the country were ‘unaware’ and what is the FIA’s role in preventing such incidents.”
The CJ also asked FIA DG to assure that in the future such kind of incidents will not happen. He also said that Court was ready to support, if FIA showed some performance.
FIA DG said that 20 people were killed by banned outfit over ethnic issue.
Chief Justice Saqib Nisar had taken suo moto notice of 20 killings in Turbat. Twenty bullet-riddled bodies were found from Turbat in Balochistan. As per initial reports the killed were from Punjab and were crossing Iran border illegally.
They were taken by human traffickers on promise of settlement in Europe after taking money from them. The CJP had ordered Inspector General Police of Balochistan and provincial interior ministry to submit the report of incident within next three days.
Frontier Corps (FC) Balochistan personnel had killed one of the top eight Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) commanders Younas Taukali, involved in massacre of 15 labourers.
