Babu in the dock over second marriage

A court Friday ordered Deputy Secretary Ghulam Sagheer to appear in person in a lawsuit moved by his wife challenging his second marriage without her permission. Judicial Magistrate Ramzan Dhuddi passed the order on suit moved by Hina Sagheer, the mother of three. She submitted that she tied the knot with Ghulam Sagheer on August 22, 2003 but her husband contracted second marriage with Aalia Batool without getting her consent which is an “offence under Section 6 of Muslim Family Law Ordinance, 1961”.  She made a request to the court for taking action against him.  The magistrate admitted the complaint for regular hearing and issued the notice to the respondent for December 22.–Staff Reporter

Saloni Bukhari passes away

Leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Saloni Bukhari passed away after protracted illness on Friday. Saloni Bukhari was suffering from cancer. PTI Chairman Imran Khan, Secretary Foreign Affairs PTI Dr Shehzad Waseem and other party leaders have expressed profound grief over the sad demise. They prayed for the departed soul to rest in eternal peace and courage for the bereave family to bear irreparable loss.–Staff Reporter

Murderer dies in hospital

A murder convict died at a hospital under mysterious circumstances on Friday, police said. The deceased was named by police as Sarfraz Ahmed, a resident of district Mandi Bahauddin.  According to police sources, Sarfraz was on the death row at the Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat jail in connection with a murder case. His condition got deteriorated all of sudden on Thursday night. He was rushed to the Jinnah hospital where he expired later. The police were investigating the death. –Staff Reporter

LDA DG nabbed over ‘corruption’

National Accountability Bureau (NAB) arrested Deputy Director of Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Ahmed Khan for his alleged involvement in fabricating bogus plots and files in Mustafa Town, said a spokesman Friday. NAB has granted physical remand of Ahmed Khan from an accountability court till December 23, the official said. He said the bureau while taking cognizance over numerous complaints about embezzlements in housing societies has shown determination to unearth all culprits involved in such scams.  The NAB DG authorized an investigation against officials of LDA in June 2017 over manipulations, approving ale of around 16 bogus files of Mustafa Town that gave lead to involvement of LDA officials in this scam.  The NAB official said so far 8 plot files have been found bogus.  NAB Lahore has arrested 6 accused so far while three have entered into returning of all looted money and another two are in judicial custody.–Staff Reporter
