KAMALIA-Families protested against the negligence of doctors and staff of the district and tehsil headquarters hospitals here on Thursday.
Alleged negligence of doctors in the hospitals at Kamalia has raised concerns among the public amid tall government claims regarding provision of quality healthcare.
Protesting against the negligence doctors and staff, Shaban, a resident of Kamalia, held a sit-in along with his family and relatives at Kamalia-Chichawatni Road where they burnt tyres and blocked traffic for several hours. In a separate incident, a gynaecologist and her female staff subjected a pregnant woman to torture and threw her out of the hospital. Concerned social circles have commented that abusive and uncaring attitude by the doctors and staff towards patients have become a routine at the THQ Kamalia.

The All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) staged a protest demonstration against the alleged corruption at Gujranwala DHQ Hospital. The protesters were led by APML divisional chief organizer Ch Shaukat Munir. In his address, he condemned the activities of some NGOs in the hospital, alleging that these NGOs collect heavy fees from patients for medical examinations. He flayed the hospital management for turning a blind eye to the illegal practice. He demanded Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the health higher-ups take action against the culprits.
