Maryam Nawaz named among top 11 powerful women across globe

Maryam Nawaz, daughter of ousted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, has been named among top 11 most powerful women across the globe.

According to New York Times, “she had recently emerged as the right hand of her father, the former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. But corruption charges are clouding her rapid rise.”

Ms. Nawaz has emerged as a top leader for ruling party Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) especially since Panama Leaks.

After her father’s disqualification, she ran the election campaign for her mother in NA-120. Her mother, Kulsoom Nawaz, won the by-polls after her campaign.

The other women in the list are Emma Morano, Margot Wallstorm (Sweden), Manal-al-Sharif (Saudi Arabia), Alice Schwarzer, Yu Xiuhua, Sinta Nuriyah, Letizia Battaglia, Asli Erdogan, Olive Yang, Henda Ayari,
