Policeman shot dead during snap checking

DERA ISMAIL KHAN – A police personnel was killed as an unidentified attacker opened firing on police team in the limits of Paharpur police station here on Sunday.

Acting on a tip-off, the police started snap checking at Marwan bridge following information that a suspected person was travelling in a vehicle in Pharpur area. As the suspected vehicle appeared, the police party signalled it to stop, instead of stopping, an unidentified gunman accelerated the car and also started firing on the police party. As a result, constable Sanaullah received critical bullet injuries and was rushed to hospital but he succumbed to his injuries on way to hospital.

The police retaliated the firing but the attacker managed to flee after sneaking into a nearby dense sugarcane crop. Police cordoned off the area and started search operation to nib the culprit involved in killing the constable on duty.
