Trump move seen as ‘new crusade’

LAHORE – The Difa-e-Pakistan Council on Saturday organised Tahafuz-e-Baitul Muqadas conference at Istanbul Chowk on The Mall.

Leaders of different religious and political parties addressed the conference which was attended by a large number of people from different walks of life.

Those who were prominent among speakers were JUI-S head and DPC Chairman Maulana Samiul Haq, Jamaat-ud-Dawa chief Hafiz Saeed, Awami Muslim League President Sheikh Rasheed, Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Liaqat Baloch, Milli Muslim League President Saifullah Khalid, Jamiat Ahle Hadith head Hafiz Ibtisam Elahi Zaheer, senior politician Riaz Fatyana and others.

The speakers unanimously condemned the US move to accept Jerusalem as Israeli capital and termed President Donald Trump’s step a fresh start of another crusade against Muslims. The speakers called for boycott of American products and emphasised upon the rulers of Muslim world to sever all kind of diplomatic relations with the United States. At the same time, they urged Muslim rulers to give a call for jihad against US and Israel. They said Islam was the religion of peace and condemns all kinds of violence.

They said the Trump move was an attack on world peace and it was forcing the followers of Islam to stand firm and united against America’s biased attitude

towards Muslims.

They said one and a half billion population of the world had had no word to condemn the American decision. “We will fight for the Palestinian cause. Muslims of Pakistan are with their Palestinian brethrens,” said Maulana Sami, the head of his own faction of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam.

Hafiz Saeed demanded that the Pakistan prime minister immediately call a meeting of the OIC in Islamabad to devise a strategy against US and Israel. He said rallies will be taken out and conferences will be organised in coming days across the country to express solidarity with Palestine.

The next conference on Baitul Muqadas, he announced, will be organised at Liaqat Bagh Rawalpindi on December 29.

Sheikh Rasheed said that rulers of Pakistan were American puppets and they could do nothing for the Palestine cause.
