Police nab kidnapping accused

Rawalpindi-Police have obtained warrants from a court of law to arrest an accused involved in kidnapping two police officers from District Headquarters hospital and detaining them in tents established by protestors of Tehreek-e-Labaik Ya Rasool Allah at Faizabad during the protest demonstration, informed sources on Monday.

The arrest warrants was issued to police by area magistrate Ganjmandi to arrest the kidnapper Mudassir Zahoor, a resident of Rahim Yar Khan, sources added.

Meanwhile, City Police Officer  Israr Ahmed Khan Abbasi has constituted a special police team under supervision of SP Rawal Division Behram Khan to apprehend the accused from RYK.

According to sources, a police team approached to a court of area magistrate and pleaded for getting arrest warrants for Mudassir Zahoor for his involvement in kidnapping two police officers Sub Inspectors (SIs) Amanat Ali and Muhammad Aslam from mortuary of DHQ on 26/11/2017. The court accepted plea of police and issued arrest warrants of the accused, they said. 

CPO Israr Abbasi has formed a raiding team comprised SP Behram Khan, DSP City Farhan Aslam and others for carrying out raid at RYK to round up the accused, sources said.

DSP Farhan Aslam, when contacted, confirmed the development saying police identified the accused from CCTV footage the investigators had took from DHQ. He said police are also looking for other 80 to 90 accused of involvement in the crime with the help of CCTV footage. 

The protestors of TLYR had kidnapped two police officers from mortuary of DHQ Hospital on 26 November while they were attending the post-mortems of Hafiz Muhammad Adeel, Asher Kamran, Irfan Mehmood, Zohaib and another unknown man killed due to firing during police operation at Faizabad Interchange.

Ganjmandi police have booked more than 90 protestors on charges of kidnapping and begun investigation. So far police could only identify one accused while the identities of the remaining are yet to be ascertained by the investigators.
