PTI asked to submit intra-party polls record

ISLAMABAD – Election Commission of Pakistan Monday resumed hearing of a petition challenging intra-party election of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, asking the party’s leadership to submit details till December 27.

A five-member Commission headed by Chief Election Commissioner Justice (Retd) Sardar Muhammad Raza heard the petition filed by a PTI member Yusuf Ali from Swabi district challenging the intra-party elections as fake and faulty.

During the hearing, the PTI did not submit information called by the ECP on the previous hearing. Senator Azam Khan Swati, PTI senior vice President present on the occasion requested the ECP to grant two-week’s time. On this, the CEC asked the PTI leader to submit the documents and adjourned the proceedings till December 27. On previous hearing held on December 13, the five-member Commission had sought details of PTI’s Election Panel, Nomination Papers and Results of the elections.

Petitioner Yusuf’s counsel had claimed that ECP had given last chance to PTI for clearing its position on intra-party as none of PTI representative was present on the occasion.
