Past in Perspective

NATO, Australia, and New Zealand all agreed to spy on each other and share the information, that way they wouldn’t be violating any domestic laws about spying on citizens. They carried out the project, code named program ECHELON in the 60s. This was all widely disclosed between 1988-2001, but people act like Snowden was the first time we found out the government was listening.
