PML-N, PPP asked to submit assets’ details
Islamabad – The Election Commission of Pakistan on Tuesday asked the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and the Pakistan People’s Party to submit their asset details till January 8.
A five-member ECP bench headed by Chief Election Commissioner Justice (retd) Sardar Muhammad Raza heard the petitions filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s lawyer Faisal Chaudhry and leader Farrukh Habib accusing the two parties of concealing their assets during the years 2013 and 2015.
The petitioners had also alleged that both the PML-N and the PPP had received funding from the United States and the United Kingdom.
During the hearing, the PPP was represented by Latif Khosa’s junior associate and PML-N was represented by Jahangir Jadoon’s junior associate.
The chief election commissioner said that the ECP has always had the authority to listen to cases regarding foreign funding.
The ECP started hearing the case after filing of the application by PTI leader Farrukh Habib.
The petitioner had said that the two parties maintain limited liability companies and receive funds from prohibited sources.
He further stated that the PML-N maintains a limited company that is authorized to do all sort of business even with a foreign corporation, governments and individuals.
