Properties sealed for tax default

Rawalpindi – The Excise and Taxation Department sealed 125 commercial and residential properties during the last week for non-payment of property tax, while a number of unregistered and token tax defaulter vehicles were also issued tickets.

According to the department, teams comprising inspectors under supervision of Excise and Taxation Officer Property Tax, Zone-II, Riaz Qureshi and Zone-I, Sohail Sabir, are conducting raids and the properties of tax defaulters are being sealed. The sources informed that the department also recovered property tax arrears amounting to Rs6.5 million during the drive.

The properties whose owners had not submitted their tax dues were sealed in different areas.

The department during its special campaign is also checking vehicles in the division and recovering outstanding dues of token tax.

Seven teams were constituted for Rawalpindi, four for Attock, two each for Jhelum and Chakwal districts.

Action in accordance with the law is being taken against defaulters as well as without registration vehicles.

The sources informed that the department is expecting to recover over Rs10 million arrears from the owners of the properties sealed.

The owners of properties and vehicles have been directed to pay their taxes at the earliest else strict action would be taken against them under the law.
