Arrest warrants for Qadri, 350 PAT activists

SARGODHA-An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Wednesday again issued arrest warrants for Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Chairman Allama Tahirul Qadri and 350 PAT activists.
Police had filed five cases; two in Khushab district, two in Mianwali district and one at Bhera police station in Sargodha district against 750 people on charges of murder of a police official during the 2014 riots.
Tahirul Qadri and 350 other PAT activists who were nominated suspects in the case did not appear in the court despite repeated summons. However, other 400 PAT workers nominated in same cases regularly appeared before the court at each date of hearing.
On Wednesday, the court issued arrest warrants for the PAT chairman and 350 activists. It also ordered the police to produce the PAT chairman and other suspected activists before the court on January 8, 2018, next date of hearing of such case.
POLICE NET TWO ACID ATTACKERS: Police claimed on Wednesday to have arrested two persons nominated suspects in a case of acid attack.
According to police, the accused were identified as Waqas Maseeh and Ilyas Mesh. They had allegedly thrown acid on 18-year-old girl, Tehmina, over matrimonial issue. The incident occurred outside the girl’s house in Cheema Colony in the Cantonment police precincts. The girl had sustained critical burns in the incident. Police had registered a case against three accused including Waqas Maseeh, Ilyas Mesh and Falak Sher on a complaint submitted by the girl’s father, Younus Mesh. Search was underway for arrest of the third suspect.
