Dacoit shot dead by ‘accomplice’

LODHRAN-A dacoit was shot dead by his ‘accomplice’ during a highway robbery here the other day.
According to police, a person namely Hafiz Tayyab made a call on police emergency number 15 and informed the police that he was on the way on Jalalpur Pirwala Road to his brokerage shop in his car. Near Fazilwala brick kiln, two dacoits who were hiding in bushes ambushed his car, robbed him of Rs450,000 and fled.
Responding to his screams, people of the area gathered and started chasing the dacoits. The dacoits resorted to indiscriminate firing on people. They remained safe but one of the dacoits was killed by firing of his accomplice. The other one succeeded in fleeing away.
On information, police reached the spot and identified the deceased dacoit as Sanaullah alias Aamir Sukhi. He was wanted by Bahawalpur and Lodhran police in more than 12 cases of heinous crimes. His body was handed over to the family after post-mortem. Search was underway for arrest of the fleeing dacoit.
