KDA asks engineers to report on anti-encroachment drive

KARACHI – Karachi Development Authority (KDA) Director Land Abdul Qadeer Mangi on Wednesday directed the executive engineers to submit their reports on the removal of encroachments from the authorities’ lands.

He was chairing a meeting held here to review the ongoing operation against illegal occupation of KDA’s land in the city.

The concerned officials briefed Mangi about the progress on the operation. “The operation against illegal occupants of the KDA’s lands would continue on the instructions of the director general,” Mangi said, and directed the officials to stay in touch with the law enforcement agencies in case they came across any hurdle.

During the meeting, Additional Director Land Khalid Hashmi, Executive Engineer Surjani Town Anwar Abbas, Executive Engineer North Arif Shah, Executive Engineer Scheme Gulistan Johar Ghulam Muhammad, Executive Engineer Clifton SM Tariq, PA to KDA DG, Riaz Ahmed Rashid, Media Coordinator Farman Shah and other officers were also present.

On the other side, Director General of the Karachi Development Authority has vowed to continue the ongoing drive against the encroachers of state’s land. KDA on Wednesday claimed to have demolished several illegal constructions built on amnesty plots in Korangi Town, including fitness clubs, workshops and marriage halls.

Police and Rangers also assisted the anti-encroachment squad in carrying out the operation by keeping an eye on the land grabbers.

The DG directed the director state and enforcement to speed up the operation against the land grabbers and also asked him to submit all details of the operation as well as the retrieval of land from the land grabbers.
